Altogether 35 World Traders gathered in New York from May 15th to 19th for 5 days of business and fun. We fitted in: a high-quality fin-tech panel to discuss especially the start-up eco-system in New York; a session with four specialists, on Russia, China, trade and US foreign policy respectively, at the Council on Foreign Relations; a delightful reception at the home of our New York-based World Trader, Robert Pay; an excellent briefing on UK objectives at the United Nations from Ambassador Jonathan Allen at the UK Mission to the UN, tour of the UN building and lunch in the Delegates’ Dining Room; a detailed briefing at Bloomberg’s Manhattan headquarters on the shape of their business model and the dark arts of their terminals; a visit to Dizzy’s Jazz Club, with its view of the Manhattan skyline at dusk; an architectural boat tour of Manhattan; dinner at the enchanting fleursBELLA, a most distinctive flower shop located in the Village, with the warmest of welcomes from Bella Meyer; and a private tour of the Met’s American Art collection.
