Past Master Mary Hardy travelled to Christ’s Hospital near Horsham in West Sussex at the end of May to witness the presentation of two World Traders’ Prizes at their annual Speech Day. The prize for Economics was awarded to Hoyeon Chang. Hoyeon gave the Senior Grecian address at Speech Day in the presence of the Lord Mayor and also received the Worshipful Company of Carmen’s prize for sustained commitment and contribution to school life and the Constantine Prize for Leadership. He is hoping to go to Oxford to study PPE.
The Oliver Hare World Traders’ Company prize for commitment to the CH Band was awarded to Fleur Merrifield. Fleur plays flute and saxophone and is joining the Royal Marines Band Service in September to pursue a musical career.
The Lord Mayor and Sheriffs were in attendance for the day which consisted of a church service, the school march past accompanied by the band, the speech day and prize giving and a delicious lunch. An uplifting day seeing so many young people thriving at a school supported by the City of London and many of its Livery Companies which was named Independent School of the Year in 2024. As its slogan says ‘ a school like no other’!
