As part of the Master’s series of visits to exceptional British companies with an international presence, two small groups of World Traders visited Fox Silver, specialists in silverware, jewellery and sporting trophies with over 40 years of outstanding craftsmanship. Their diverse portfolio comprises trophies for motorsports – notably Formula 1 trophies for Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Las Vegas, Saudi Arabia and Spain, silverware for luxury retailers, and bespoke commissions for global corporations and even bishops!
We enjoyed an exclusive visit to their workshops, where we saw their skilled craftsmen and craftswomen at work and heard from the owner, Richard Fox, who showed us round and talked about the foundation, history and current activities of this fascinating family firm. And we got to see – and hold – some of the amazing (and heavy!) silver and gold trophies they produce – including their trophy for Abu Dhabi which is not only a stunning work of art but an incredibly complex and intricate piece of sculpture.
It was truly astonishing how so much ingenuity and craftsmanship could be crammed into such a small suite of workshops!

For lunch we congregated in the private dining room of a super little Italian restaurant under the railway arches of Croydon.
