Thanksgiving Service and Summer Lunch

Monday 8 June 2015

After a Ceremony at Trinity House during which 7 new Freemen (and women) were inducted into the Company, and 3 Freemen were clothed with Livery, the Master and Wardens, splendid in gowns and tasselled hats, processed to the oldest City church, All Hallows’ by the Tower for the Annual Thanksgiving Service, conducted by the Company Chaplain, Bertrand Olivier. At the end of the service, members re-dedicated themselves and the Company to serve faithfully, God, the Monarch, the Lord Mayor, and to promote fellowship and peace through World Trade.

Back to Trinity House for a Pimms reception for some 95 people, members and guests, and then into lunch in the splendid dining room, at tables with models of famous lighthouses. Not an occasion for speeches, other than a short welcome from the Master who later took wine with the new Livery and Freemen. Good food and wines from our usual caterers, Cook and Butler.

The Summer Lunch is relaxed and enjoyable and a highlight in the Company’s calendar of events.
